I have manual steering in my 80 4000 (it came stock that way).  Great
feel and very precise.  With the original giant steering wheel and
skinny tires it was OK, but now with the smaller Momo and and fatter
tires it's quite a workout when parallel parking.  Once under way
the steering effort is just fine.

Plus side: no pump, no bomb, no hydraulic fluid, no hoses, no leaks! :)
