to m. eric augustyn: if you do end up burning those ETKA CDs, please put 
me down for one.  also, regarding your oil pump, i once made the mistake 
of replacing an oil pump and pickup suction tube  thingy (i'm _very_ 
technical) on my rabbit with the exact same problem.  it 
fixed the problem, but after the installation was complete and i decided 
to take the old ass'y  apart for fun, i just saw that it was very 
clogged with crap from my pre-synthetic oil days.  

re: max dichter's oil light:

if there is froth in your dipstick, then that means that your crank is 
splashing the sump like a four year-old in the kiddie pool.  did this 
problem start after your most recent oil change?  if so , maybe you just 
over-filled it.  i don't know why this would make your oil light come on, 
but maybe someone else does?

re: q-list warehouse

i would be more than willing to go in on that idea of us all pitching in 
$100 for a warehouse.  look, i know that the idea seems farfetched, but 
if the audis are still there, it would be a very valuable resource for us 
all, and worth the work it would take to make happen. now, i am no leader 
or organizer (just too damn disorganized), but if someone else would be 
willing to  head up an investigation into this, i would be willing to 
take on a lot of leg work and research whatever i need to.

re: suspension

i cannot tell you how happy iam to hear that lowering does not have any 
positive effect on handling.  i like my audi where it is.  that in mind, 
i am now in the market for stiffer than stock, stock height springs for 
my 1990 80Q.  i plan on using boge progas inserts, as i like to have a 
nice ride as well.  any suggestions for a spring and source?

also, i am in the market for larger wheels for my 80Q, and have been made 
wary by all of the mention of limited wheel well space on said 
automobile.  what would be the largest and widest wheel i could use (with 
lowish profile - 50ish - tires?
