Re: Advice Needed on Recently Totalled Audi S6
When dealing with the GEICO claims adjuster, what exactly are my options
when
>it comes to totaling the vehicle versus accepting a check for the repairs
and
>totalling the vehicle myself. Any BTDT would be helpful or advice from
people
>who know other people that have had their cars totalled
============================
Don't think you get an option. Depends on the %age of your car's book value
that is required in repairs (think it's 80%). At that point the company will
opt to total the car to protect against future claims. They would rather pay
the book value than accept the exposure of paying say 80% and then receive a
subsequent claim after the repair has begun and the tear down reveals
unforeseen damage.
What I think you need is a good body guy to "manage" the claim according to
your desires. BTW, Geico is one of the best companies to deal with in this
unfortunate situation. I am assuming they are the "other guy's" carrier.
Good Luck,
Jeff
