Re: three wheeled car (No Q content)
While we're on the subject, I have to admit to recently buying a related
3-wheeler... a Berkeley T60. Designed by the same person responsible
for the Reliant. I haven't yet picked it up, but you can see photos of
it on the previous owner's page at:
http://members.home.net/fraserlane/index.html
It has an interesting history. It was a British magazine "project car"
in the 70's. (Hence the non-standard mods.) It was brought to the US
by the then-governor of CT and later was owned by the editor of the US
"Berkeley Newsletter". Now in Canada and a frequent attendee at
Canadian shows. There's only about 10 of these in North America.
Powered by a 328cc Excelsior 2 stroke 2 cylinder engine and gearbox
(meaning linear gearshift pattern) and using an electric reverse. Chain
drive to the front diff.
The seller knew of a WI project car ('59 4 wheeler) which I went to look
at as a project. Turns out to be a very solid car sans drivetrain. I'm
thinking something Japanese with 6 gears and a 10,000 rpm redline. Did
I mention the cars weight about 800 lbs? 40 hp will put them over
100mph should one be brave (stupid?) enough to do so.
