Re: Bashing Detroit

Ah. The problem is not so much one of what Detroit makes so much as their
unwillingness to cater to a chunk of the market. They SAY they cater to said
chunk, but, as we all know, actions speak louder than words.

Let's take the automotive category most of us find ourselves in, "sports
sedan". I am puzzled why manual transmissions aren't offered even as a higher
cost option.

To say we are car snobs is putting the least favorable descriptor on our
(probable) collective outlook. It would be just as accurate to say we are
detailed-focused enthusiasts. What...ya think a serious golfer buys just any
clubs? Or a serious guitarist buys any guitar? Nor would it also be fair to
say we are brand-conscious. Let's face facts here, people, Audi (at least in
these here parts of SoFla) is not the sort of marque which causes convulsive
"ooohing" and "aaahhhing" in the masses. If were bought cars for the
"prestige factor" most of us would go with the Bavarian over the Swabian.

But then again, what the Hell do I know...I'm also an Alfaholic.
