power windows (maybe not the regulator)

Hello,
	Upon further investigation, I think the problem I'm having (driver side
window stuck in down position) may not be a broken regulator.  When I
press down on the switch I can hear the motor "click" on, but since the
window is already all the way down there is no action.  When I press up
on the switch there is no sound of motor activation at all.  I've
switched the wiring to other switches and the same results.  I'm
wondering if there is a problem in the switch that doesn't allow the
window to go up when the door is open.  Does this sound familiar to
anyone, and if so, where should I look now and what should I do?
