RE: 86 4kqcs headlight switch
The same thing happened to my '864kq SEVERAL times. I decided the switch
couldn't handle the current from both the headlights and parking lights. I
got a rear defrost switch out of the junk yard, put it in one of the blank
slots, and used it to switch the wires for the parking/dash lights. Now
the number one position on the headlight switch does nothing. I use the
defrost switch for parking lights and the two position switch for
headlights. I've had no problems since, and that was several years ago. I
know the ultimate fix would be a relay system, I will eventually get to
that. Now I can put the car in "Stealth" mode where I can leave my
headlights on and turn off my tail lights. Hope this helps.
