My '90 CQ was doing the exact same thing once. Different engine
and fuel management from yours, but the fault code pointed me
right to the problem. (Mech had left distributor slightly out
of adjustment after timing belt job.) Yours may be a different
problem, but it's always easy to check the codes first.
