 Easy answer(s)
Dead nuts reliability, inexpensive parts and qualified wrenches on every
corner, water pump $25, alt $50, 4 piston SS calipers $60, vented 12" rotors
for same $50. lots of HP increases for short (intake, carb) $'s. All
standard equipment for my 30 year old Corvette. Hell, you gotta drive
something while the Audi is down!

This is all fine if you enjoy shifting at 4500 rpm when these motors run
out of breath, or how about 10-15 gallons per mile...highway cruising. I
have been watching this thread develop, and obviously many of you have never
seen the video "The Quattro Experience" dedicated to the Ur quattro's
pummeling of the rally world in the mid 80s. The UrQuattro is the
representative of Audi's racing legacy, it has a rich history and story. If
you want to cut it up and put in a low revving tourque monster, go ahead,
your decision. But at most, you will draw a tabloid based initial reaction
to your frankenstein creation. It will no longer be an Audi Ur Quattro, but
a freak for you to drive and enjoy. If you want something to drive and be
fast, use a 4kq which are plentiful and basically the same platform. It
seems a shame to me to vandalize such a part of auto history.
Just my opinion.
