Coupla years ago I bought an item at the local police auction described as
"aircraft wheel and tire".

Turned out it was a main gear wheel from a Florida Air National Guard F-106
which fell off one such airplane departing Daytona Beach airport, and
landed in the Intracoastal Waterway, where the Ormond Beach Police
Department eventually fished it out.

Tire size 10 by 33 (If I remember correctly), on a magnesium wheel - the
best our tax dollars can buy.

Paid $5 for it. As I was muscling it into the trunk of the K-car I was
driving at the time (and it barely fit), an onlooker exclaimed "I know what
that fits! That there's a _Porsh_ tahr!"

Also fits Hawker Sea Fury, incidentally, and there are NONE of them around
here.
