Starting problem
I have the 86 coupe on the road now. It runs perfect once I get it started.
It is hard starting when cold and hot. When I rebuilt the engine I put in a
new cold start valve and thermo-time switch. When I start the car I need to
feather the gas until it starts then keep the rpm's up around a thousand for
about 5 or 10 seconds. With my foot off of the gas the car will surge up
and down for a little bit then stabilize into a rock solid idle. I haven't
had a chance to start trouble shooting. Any BTDT's? The bently mentions
the hot start pulse relay, but I have been unable to locate same. Is this
an actual relay or is this function controled by the ECU?
Does anyone know of a source for the test jumper for the diff press.
regulator (VW1315A1) as well as the 15 ohm test plug (VW 1490) for the temp
sensor?
I might as well put together the whole set of fuel diagnostics. That means
I will need the position plate tool VW 1348/1 and test harness VW 1501.
I already have the fuel pressure gauge, so unless I left something out that
should be about it.
TIA
