for fun, try having your non-leaking, lowered Audi involuntarily towed
(hard to manage the process when being photographed, while cuffed...) by
some backwoods yahoo with a dolly rather than a ramp. (2 months ago)
Some nice dents in the oil pan (I'd be screaming, but I had just got
another one powder coated ready to put on), and evidence of motor mount
liquid splattered around the port motor mount.
The car now leaks oil disgustingly, around front of pan, oil pump lower
end, etc.
Not wanting to do half the job and still have leaks, this weekend I will
be swapping the oil pan (and installing the windage tray), and also
*replacing the oil pump gasket*. Heck, I'm gonna replace the noisy new
water pump while I'm in there just cause I can.
So I have to do the whole WP/TB parts removal job, then take a deep
breath and drop the subframe, pull the oil pan, pull the oil pump,
examine it for cracks, then try to reassemble it all without a single
leak.
Maybe I should pick up a quart of loctite for the bolts...
I'm also going to install a plastic baffle that came snapped onto the
oil pickup of a trashed block I acquired (threw a rod...), which appears
to be designed to keep some oil at the pickup on hard acceleration.
Any warnings, ideas, suggestions, or general mockery that may prove
useful to me will of course be very welcome!
