re: --> Pictures of my UrQ <--

q-listers...

Ahhh, the good 'ol days of Mars Red. Brings back memories of my 1983
urquattro #568. The urquattros are solid Audis that are very unique. I
simply loved mine with the utmost respect. Unfortunately, they miss out
a little in the handling department (compaired to my newest Porsche 944
at least, IMHO), but are one of the best handling Audis I have ever
owned and ever built. I will truly miss that raw, solid feeling it gave me.
Out of all, (six of them nontheless...) Neckarsulm German built cars
I have owned, my latest 1987 Porsche 944 is hands down the best build
quality and by far the most solid. The doors on the Porsche close with a
jewel like clasp and feel very convincing. Surprisingly, it's more solid
than my 1989 200 avant turbo quattro (maybe due to the fact I bought the
Porsche from the original owner?). Although, my 1983 urquattro came very
close with it's door closing quality too. When I updated the dash to an
'87 4kcsq version, the urquattro was even better overall than before. (I
have pictures of this interior upgrade if anyone wants to see them...)
I would love to have enough unlimited funds and a garage large
enough to have been able to _keep_ and store all my past Audis (and
Porsches) and pick and choose what I drive everyday --> ("gee it's
snowing today and VERY icy!!!" or "it's a downdown strip cruising
night...") They all have made a very special notch in my heart. For
those of you that don't know yet how an Audi can notch 'ya in the
heart... take a look at these images...

I wonder if good 'ol Bavarian German brew (or lack thereof), and or who,
had any part to play in how the sub-contracted Porsche 944 construction
was done at Neckarsulm plant? From the Audi gurus, were the 944's hand
built there too? From what I have heard, when Hans and Franz or when
Freida joined in to "hand-build" some of the urquattros, things got a
little funky, and sometimes workmanship levels and parts used were
determined from the quantity (or quality) they consumed the night
before... Maybe my 944 was built on a dry, clear day?
