Ahem. Well, recently I picked up one of those "blue colored" lights for
$20 at Target. It is packaged by GE, but I wasn't suprised when the bulb
themsevles are made in Korea (I think the mail-order "Competition Limited"
or something also sells Korean-made high-wattage bulbs).

Anyway, I guess like all other tungsten-halogen "blue" bulbs, it's the
glass itself that is colored blue -- not the tungsten's emission. Anyway,
I replaced one side with this GE blue bulb, with the other side remaining
with Wagner "whiter white" bulb. (Note: the Wagners are definitely NOT
worth the money. If you wanna buy Wagner, either buy real blues or
long-life regular halogens for that amount of $$$.)

After turning the light switch on, I was amused -- it was bluer -- or
rather, whiter. Made the Wagners look like amber fog light. But you can
tell it apart from real HIDs -- if you look at real arc dischargers, they
are more bluer at the light source; the fake blues are even, even somewhat
yellower when you look into the center (don't do it too long!).

THe fun part was the actual light shining on the road -- it's actually
whiter! Well, that kept me really amused, and the fake blues are now a
keeper.
