Are the inner CV bolts on a type 44 the same head as those on
an A2 VW? I have not needed to look at my type 44 drive shafts
yet. Anyway, if the type 44 inner CV bolts are the same head
as the VW bolts, the tool used for removing the hubcap of the
"teardrop" style 14x6 VW wheel works nicely. These wheels were
used on the early US version of the VW 16v A2 GTI's, but I
believe they showed up in the US on several later A2 models
and the 16v Scirroco. Not to discourage anyone from buying a
new triple square tool, but if you were already at a salvage
yard and stumbled across the tool kit from one of these GTI's
(and probably GLIs and 16v Scirrocos) you could probably get
the tool for free.
