Scott, seizes the moment (or is that has a seizure this moment:), and finds

Be careful exploring that limit Phil. IME, doing it in traffic could have
some dire consequences. Sounds like you got the baby version of the bite
(recoverable), the full grown version makes you wish you were all by yourself
with plenty of runoff. Also, IME, taking your foot off ISN'T the answer at
all, keeping your feet in is (read: you were lucky you didn't spin out in
front of the oncoming traffic) - one on the gas one on the brake seems to
have the higher probability of "control".
I join Jeff in appreciation of the openess to the enlightenment, Phil (double
for me, since in one of my former challenges, I asked that 'when' it happened
to you, you posted - true to the word). Good luck exploring this phenomenon,
now that we have you believing, we don't want you taking yourself out of the
debate all together.
