Re: Intercooler in 5k
J,
:-) upon initial inspection the Mitsu Starion etc Intercooler
seems to me to be a pretty well made unit. Better at least than the stock
5ktq/200 (non-20v of ocurse) IC's. Its all aluminum with Aluminum end
Caps, is Single pass, fairly large. Seems its only problem is the size of
the intake and outlet hoses. But cant you just weld on bigger
inlet/outlets ??? What is it about this unit that doens't work. i
bought one for use in my 4ktq project as it will fit nicely (with mods)
where my grille used to be. Its nothing like the 944t nit or some of the
other nicer units I've seen and definately noting to compare toa good
custom job but it seems better than stock at least. Even though you'll be
hard pressed to fit one in the OEM spot on a 5ktq.
thanks
Todd

I would recommend staying away from the puny little ICs Ford put on their
SVO
cars; likewise, the IC on the Chrysler Conquest/Mitsu Starion isn't
particularly good and the one Toyota used on their turbo MR-2 is likewise
a
dud. I don't know much about any other production ICs although I do have
some experience with the bit Volvo IC and found that it works very well,
provided you can figure out a way to fit it to the car.
