MC rebore...more questions

Hi!

Just organising the rebuild of the MC engine
and am still a bit worried about getting news that
I need to rebore the block and replace the pi$ton$.

What are listers' opinions on using cylinder sleeves
to keep the standard bore? Volvo did this to the 2.5
5-cylinder to get a 2.3 for their turbocharged unit.
My Merc 300D has cylinder sleeves (as far as I know).
It seems like a better option instead of replacing
very expensive pistons. I'd prefer to install hardened
sleeves as it would most likely be better when doing
future rebuilds than replacing the pistons to fit the
new bores.

Wrong or right track?
What material to use?
What am I missing in this line of thought?
