RE: speaking of warranties

Rocky...Here's my pearls of wisdom.

Contact Audi US or your Dealer and request a copy of their warranty. Read
it carefully then you decide if it's worth the risk. If you're not sure
what it means write Audi US a letter asking for clarification. They will
respond.

I can't speak for the US since warranty laws differ, but in Canada if you
alter or modify your car in any way the Dealer as the Agent of the
Manufacturer has the right to void your new car warranty. It doesn't mean
they will, but it certainly means they can.

Subject:	speaking of warranties

i'd like sort of a poll of opinions on this.

i ordered an a4 avant, as y'all may know. got
the 1.8t, the leather being the only regret.
turbo because of mods. my plan is, after a
little bit of break-in, to get a k04 and a chip
to go with it. there are mods that give more
power, at the sacrafice of reliability, and
i want this car to have long-term life, even
though i expect i will sell it (or give it to
my girlfriend) in a few years.

anyway, warranty. a reason for me to buy new
is warranty. i don't want to void it, though i
am willing to risk being stealthy. i have heard
that the secret is to find a sympathetic service
guy, i have heard that they won't know, i have
heard that it only matters if they can proove that
the mods caused the damage. in the end, i don't
expect engine problems anyway, not for 5-8 years
or so - i suspect electrical and door handles, as
	is tradition.

anyway, any experience out there? pearls of wisdom?
