antilock solved!!!!
I finally got that damn "antilock off" light extinguished on my dash. My
heartfelt thanks to all of you who have assisted me in solving this problem.
Also, apologies for not stating in my last post that it is a 91 100. Turned
out that it was the computer that was the problem. Luckily I have a parts
car with a known good computer. Changed them out and the light went out and
now the dash off\on switch works as it should. This car was at the body shop
for about a month, and the shop owner informed me that he had to jump start
it when he went to work on it. He didn't know about the post under the hood,
so he located the battery under the rear seat and jumped directly to the
battery. Is it possible that he may have reversed polarity during the jump
and that resulted in the computer failure? Sounds suspicious since
everything worked properly before he got ahold of the car. Please be
patient with my ignorance, but is the computer that I replaced under the rear
seat (which returned my ABS) for the ABS system only? If so, where are the
fuel injection and ignition ECUs located? If, in fact, a reversed polarity
situation fried the ABS computer, am I likely to find that the car suffered
further damage?
