NorCalQCUSA: Update

Greetings all!

I thought I'd make a general post to let people know what was going on with
the newly formed Northern California chapter of QCUSA, and try to see if I
could line up a few people who have some time available to help with
organization. We need to meet to put plans together for meetings and
events! I'd like to do that ASAP ... pretty soon we'll be in the middle of
the holiday season and it will be impossible to find a good time to meet.
My initial thoughts were to have at least one meeting every month on a
somewhat regular basis. Every other month the meeting will be held
somewhere in the SF Bay Area ... preferably in the same location, with the
alternate months meetings held elsewhere throughout the region.

So far the only people that are definitively buttonholed to help with
administration are myself, Mike Veglia and Howard Dinits. There have been
some people who have sent messages to me in the past, but I'd like to see if
I can get at least a handful of people who can actually commit to a few
hours per month to help turn the NorCal Chapter of QCUSA into a real, active
organization (... perhaps it will require a few more hours to begin with
...). Eventually we'll put together some committees to deal with track
events, other social events, sponsorship, etc ... but I think the main first
goal will be to set up regular get togethers through the next year.

So far, the next event is the 3rd Annual Thanksgiving weekend breakfast in
Aptos, and it sounded like there was some interest in driving up from there
to the SF International Auto Show afterward. Other than this we've got
nothing planned that I'm aware of. I was thinking it would be cool to have
a meeting scheduled for somewhere up in the Tahoe area, perhaps in January,
to allow us to drive up there and to get to meet with all the QCUSA folk who
live up there. There has also been some interest expressed in having a
safety school at Laguna Seca sometime next year. I've also gotten positive
responses to suggestions about getting into the SCCA RallyCross loop.
Please feel free to speak up with your suggestions!

I have posted this message to the audifans, V8, Bay Area Audifans and QCUSA
e-mail lists. If there are any other e-mail lists where this message might
apply please feel free to forward it. Also, if you know of anyone in
Northern California who may not be on a list, please pass this info along.
Thanks!
