couple of questions for the masses - BTDT?

The vehicle in question is an 86 5000TQ

1. Fuel injectors.    Do you have to remove the intake manifold to get
these out, and they just pull out, right?

2. Air conditioning.  My a/c system doesn't work and since winter is
coming on , I won't be using it for a while.  What I was thinking of
doing is removing all of the parts and working on them over the winter,
replacing seals, etc then putting the system back in the car in spring.
the system had r12 last time it was charged, but of course we can't get
it anymore and it has to be retrofit.  Anybody BTDT?  Anybody see any
problems with this?
