A New Look at Torsens

I can't believe I'm writing this, but...

I was thinking that since both camps (actually 3, the third camp doesn't
give a rip, but they probably won't read this either) can't agree on
anything, did it ever occur to anyone that you both maybe right??

Huh???

I'll give you a synapsis (mine) of the major players:

1. Dave Eaton
Probably owns the most coveted stables of any guy on the list.  Participates
in all types of NZ car activities, and gets to drive some really nice stuff,
making comparos of cars we poor Americans will never see.  Seems to love the
WRC.
A true enthusiast...

2. Phil Payne
Seriously English, keeps his cars maintained at a level of retentivity I
both admire and despise (I just can't do the same).  Loves fixing others
Audi's, involved Q-club member, enjoy's tossing his Q's every chance he
gets.  20+ years of professional automotive experience.
A true enthusiast...

3. Jeff Goggin (AKA Audi Dudi)
The Buckaroo Banzai of Audi performance and modifications, takes on projects
most folks blanch at (Can you say Audi V8 in an Ur-q??).  Local racer most
of his legal driving days, competes fiercly against himself.  Does all his
own work, loves to experiment, and a real perfectionist in his own way.

4. Scott Justenssen (AKA QSHIPQ)
Tuner and wrench extraordinaire, always looking for the best solution.  Has
many clients, seems to be one of "The Guys" in the states when it comes to
racing mods and tunes.  A pleathora of experience, drives what he preaches,
driving teacher and pit crew/mechanic for an Audi race team.
A true enthusiast...

Do any of the people listed above seem like they would be liars, confused,
or stupid?  Is it possible that all 4 of you are right?  That Phil and Dave
have never experienced or heard of (except us) the Bite?  Why not?  That
Scott and Jeff have Biter's all the time?  Why here (USA) and not there
(England, NZ, anywhere else)?

The challenge I throw to everyone interested in this issue, esp. those
listed, is to explain why Dave and Phil don't experience bite, and Scott and
Dave do.  Assuming that both parties legitimately are correct in there
positions, why don't Englsih and NZ spiders bite, and American spiders do?

Any comments like "Well, those yanks are wanks and can't drive", or "those
Ferrinners don't toss them cars around corners like us Murricans", will not
be considered seriously.  Formula One and Indy certainly proves Furrinner's
drive as good or better than Yanks...

This is a serious challenge.  Let's not analyze or counter analyze positions
until we get a bunch of comments out on the table, then we can walk through
them one by one.
