Re: 1.8t in4000?

Better stay in that bunker. For a total price of $3600 you could have a
factory new 1.8T 20v Motor, Dual Mass Flywheel, Intake Manifold, Exhaust
Manifold, Turbo, Coil Packs, Wiring Harnesses, Fuel Injection, Water Pump,
ECU, Air Mass Sensor, Hoses, Pressure Regulator Valve, Intercooler, and
Shipping + Handling from Germany. Now for that price a swap is warranted
for any Audi that a person chooses. Sure go buy an A4, $30,000, that is
cost effective vs. $3600 plus swapping costs which will never reach to $30k.
Plus some people want to do it for the pwoer and upgradability in the Audi
they already own and love. Take a 2.3 I5 and try to make it give 200+bhp
cheaply and effectively. Toss a Neuspeed K04 turbo kit on the new 1.8T
motor and there is some real power, and the engine can handle much more.
Sure a 3B swap would be just as nice, but go find me a factory new 3B or AAN
for $3600 with all the goodies.
I can honestly say I would take a new motor over a used motor. I would
also rather buy an entire easily upgradable new motor and get power from
that rather than spending over $3k to get cams, intake+exhaust, port the
head, total seal rings, exhaust, and all the little tricks involved with
streching bhp out of old high mileage engines. If I ever get a 1.8T
conversion done on my 80 I will surely have a ball on the track, or I could
stick and spend way over what a new motor + swap on my I4 (3A) engine and
possibly stretch it to 140bhp tops. Got to think logically about power and
what is the best way to obtain it. New motor that can handle 250bhp easily
or stretch a poor I5 to the ends and get 150bhp.
