brake pressure regulator on a 95.5 S6-- where is it??

According to Mr. Bentley, I need to do the following before bleeding my brakes:

 

"Before bleeding the brake system, wedge a drill bit (min diameter = 6mm) between roller and end of spring on the brake pressure regulator.

 

I would love to do this... only I cannot find the damn pressure regulator! From what I know its supposed to be mounted on the body near the left-rear wheel, with a spring that connects to the suspension (so it can tell when the car is loaded in the rear).

 

I have the car up on jack stands, left-rear wheel off and I just can't find it. I am hoping that this means that I don't really have one of these doohickies and I can ignore Mr. Bentley's advice.

 

Does the brake pressure regulator exist on 95.5 S6's or am I just (a) blind, (b) stupid, or (c) both?
