The US cars with the 4E badging were all 4-cylinder 1.7 liter,
The transmission on these are the type 013 code 2M or MV.
The final drive is 4.11, but the 5th gear on these is 0.60.
My 1980 4000 had a 4-speed type 014 tranny, and it got tiring
buzzing around at 4K+ rpms at 70mph, so I swapped in one of
these wide ratio boxes. Talk about an opposite extreme.
It sure cruises quiet on the freeway, but absolutely no
acceleration. A downshift is always needed...
When I eventually did the swap from a 1.6 motor to a 2.0, I
switched transmission again to the 013 code 2N which is a
medium ratio box. This combination is the sweet spot. The
2N box has a 0.68 5th, and coupled with the much improved
torque/power of the 2.0 engine on the light car, it now
cruises reasonably quiet and still have good acceleration
in 5th.

This depends on the car... On my 4000 it is all sturm und drang,
very visceral sensations of one driving a machine. On my A4q,
on the other hand, is all about quiet, relaxed, velvety refinement...

I don't think the V6 cars use the 016 transmission. At least none
of the US models do. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.
