A couple changes to the above:-)...........the first Super Beetle was 1971,
and as far as the engine
.......when you say it had a larger bore/displacement than the
original.........if by original you refer to the standard beetle of the same
year.............they had the same engine. In otherwords, from 71 and
later, when the super beetle hit the market........both the standard and
super had the exact same engine.......the 1600 dual port head engine. The
only mechanical difference between the two was the front
suspension...........same engine, transaxle and rear suspension. I could go
on and on about the "real" beetle..........but this is an Audi list:-)
