I had the same problem when my alternator belt broke. The best way to check
would be to take off the cover in front of the radiator the alternator
should be in the left side of the smaller compartment . If it is the belt it
is a very easy fix. About the battery my car ran for about for day before I
eventually realized it was the belt.
