It is a 3M film a couple of mm thick. It did not seem to change the light
pattern at all.
The '91 V8 came with something like this. I believe the PO applied it after
one lens had already suffered some sort of strike. I don't know how long
this stuff was on the lenses but after I replaced the broken headlamp unit
it was obvious that the remaining light was not nearly as bright. I removed
the film and they are matched much better. I had been interested in using
this stuff on my Eurolights ... but given that here in California the
likelihood of breaking a lamp is fairly small I've decided to run w/o the
film from now on ...
On my motorcycle I purchased a polycarbonate sheet which is set a couple mm
in front of the lens. This product seems to work very well without
affecting the light output over the two years I've had it. This might not
be a bad alternative ... but unlike the film the plastic cover is quite
noticeable ...
