Re: Headlights Out!
Stephane
My brother had the same problem with his 88 5000, he lost his low beams.
I drilled out the rivets on the switch assembly and pulled it apart.
What
I found was that the plastic stalk was broken inside and there was a
spring
and I think a little ball bearing inside the end. This enabled the
stalk
to stay in the low beam positon. I had another switch assembly out of a
84 turbo 5000 which had no cruise control on the end of it. I slid of
the
handle off of the end and cut it down to the same length as the broken
one.
Slid the cruise on the new stalk put the whole assembly back together.
I used
some long bolts and nuts to screw it together and attached the 3 copper
strips
on the side .
Works like a champ.
