Re: 87 5ktq Radio Questions
Interesting - to be honest, I just assumed I had a code-radio. When I
turn the knob on - a rotary knob at the left-bottom - nothing happens.
I sorta assumed a code needed entered to make it work. IIRC(and going
out to check in a few), it has a knob, 1/2-3/4" diameter, with a
raised center section for fingers(like a small stove knob) on the
bottom left, the LED display is above that, tape insert slot in the
center, 5(?) presets, couple of other buttons.
I *doubt* she upgraded anything - the car is a stock 87 5ktqw. If it
is not a code radio, I'll look at fuses. The background lighting does
come on with the headlights.
Question - I have a Kenwood cd player for it; I was planning on simply
removing stock radio, transferring wires to the Kenwood, 12v, speakers
left right front rear, done? All this talk of crossovers and whatnot
is making me think it might not be that simple - true?
Thanks for the help!
Iain Mannix(is there any lettering on the front I should look for?)
