Sounds like the Rothenburg. It does not have security codes.
Most Audi radios that have security codes will still turn on
after reconnecting the power, but the display will show "SAFE"
and no function will work until you do the code entry. If your
radio doesn't even turn on, then there is a different problem.

Depends on the Kenwood you have and what wires need hooking up, and
whether the stock wiring provides it. For example, the factory wiring
of that vintage provides only an always-on 12V power source. If your
radio needs a ignition-switched power then you need to hack into the
wiring. Also, be careful of the speaker wiring... high powered radios
have bridged outputs that don't like the - leads of the two channels to
be wired together. Other things to consider are the illumination power,
whether the factory dash light dimmer line can be used on the new radio,
etc.
