Re: '88 90q alignment issues
Had the same problem with my frozen ends. Mi*as didn't want to
do it for fear of liability should they strip the threads. Took it back
to my mech who had put in the ends and did a temporary alignment
using a tape measure after using a torch to loosen up the ends
(tie rod adjusters). Before that he did spray some WD-40 and I let it
soak in for a day or two as I had the car before he did the procedure
all for free. Chances are that you will have to see a mech. or you could
if you are equipped to do so, and have the adjusters loosened using a
torch and then have to go to the alignment shop unless the mech has
an alignment machine which would work better in terms of $$. My car
btw was an '88 80Q

My question is, therefore, what do I ask a prospective alignment shop prior
to handing my car over? I have been told to make sure that they are using a
Hunter machine. I'm going to ask if they have had any experience with
Quattros. If I can't find one that has done a Quattro recently but
otherwise seems competent, can someone please share with me again what I'm
supposed to tell them should they also say that the tie rod end is frozen?
Is it just a heat thing?
