Trivia fact :

That exact vacuum switch (811 807 343B) is one of the longest running part
in the Audi parts bin : 1980 to 2005... From the 4000 to the A8, same
switch. THAT was clearly not a team doorhandle design...

As has been suggested, there are vacuum switches @ the brake and clutch
pedals.  I discovered while doing clutch hydraulics yesterday that the
switch @ the clutch pedal was nowhere near making contact with the pedal,
after having owned my 92 for 3 years w/non-functioning cruise.  I still
haven't checked to see if it works now though!
