[s-cars] 1988 90 quattro - good or bad?

Chris,
Like Sean, I also own a 7A'ed B3, but mine is a Coupe quattro. While
the motors and engine management systems are different, a lot of the
cars drivetrain, suspension, and interior/exterior are the same.
You mention the car is a quattro which rules out the 4 cylinder, and
makes it a 5 cylinder 2.3 NG code motor. The NG is known for it's
reliability beyond the 250k miles mark, with only headgaskets and
clutches being the only major parts prone to failure. Other smaller
parts that tend to fail are master/slave clutch cylinders and brake
pressure accumulators. Suspension bushings also tend to need R&R in
the higher mileage cars. The Audiworld 80/90/Cabrio forum is a GREAT
resource for these cars, and a great place to search over the archives
to see BTDT's.
