[s-cars] Front Suspension clunking (still)

Rich,
Its interesting that you mention the side to side play of the fully extended
rod. As I originally suspected the 2B plates, I had taken them apart a few
times, with the strut assemblies still in the car, as you describe. I also
noted the noticeable play side to side, though I could not be certain at
this point if the play is within the strut insert itself or if the whole
insert is loose inside the housing.
I suspect it is the insert, as I have encountered a couple of severe pot
holes, where the front suspension (drivers side, which is where the noise is
most severe) bottomed out, as though if I was riding on the spring, serious
lack of dampening. This was after less than 1 month from installing the
brand new Bilsteins. I know these roads are tough, but I am having serious
doubts about the quality of these Bilstein inserts.
Looks like I may as well get new front inserts while I'm at it.
