[s-cars] Auxiliary Water Pump / Turbocharger coolant pump

My pump is leaking quite a bit, and I need to change it.  I see other
listers have proposed replacing said pump with a T fitting.  Has anybody
eliminated their pump or was this just an emergency fix?

Is this pump necessary if you do a 60 second cooldown of your engine before
turning it off?

Tim in MI where its so cold my turbo hardly ever gets warmed up these
days........

You are not stranded... Just bypass the pump for the moment with brass tube
splice from H/W.  A deep 16mm thinwall socket will work in a real emergency.
A few days without will not kill anything it circulates coolant after
shutdown.  Be nice on cooling down the motor and things will be fine.

I have done this same thing.....it actually works best with the 3/4"
Prestone Antifreeze T you can buy at any auto-parts store for flushing
purposes.
