[s-cars] Interesting state re: fuel consumption

Hi Tony;

That's not too unusual; the lower viscosity oil consumes less HP from
internal engine drag and gets more HP to the ground, increasing fuel
mileage. That is one of the reasons manufacturers began specifying the 5W
oils during the '90s as the quest for improved fuel economy heated up.

Even stranger economy point on my S6. No.5 coil finally bit the big one and
after I replaced it, I took a 400 km road trip to Toronto. Fuel economy was
8 litres/100 km going down (~30 mpg) and exactly the same coming back. I've
never gotten fuel economy like that on either of my S cars. It seems to be
holding up in my daily commute as well. Can't figure that one out - must be
something wrong :). Kind of nice at these fuel prices though.

Since changing summer oil from Mobil 1 15W50 to Elf 5W40 three weeks ago,
I've been getting an extra 20 to 30 kms extra per half tank. Just filled up
and got 310kms from 37 litres - close to 12 litres per 100kms (or 20mpg).

Mostly city driving and this week with roof bars and boat carrier on top
(sometimes with the boat too)

One of these...

Any thoughts on that?
