[V8] Timing Belt Saga 2

I'm trying to get ready to install the cam locking tools. I presume I need
to be at TDC with cylinder #1 before I do that???? I have all the tools
from that Zelenda "sale" several years ago.

Incidentally, I've been having email server problems since yesterday
afternoon and just at noon today got mail service back. I see from the V8
archives that Dave Head said I could check whether I'm at the right timing
point by taking off a valve cover and verifying that dots on the pulleys
are facing eachother. Does this require a new gasket for the valve cover?
