Koni shocks

Having just realized that there are virtually *no* aftermarket
shocks for my '89 100Q, I'd like to ask the list for their
experience with Konis. They are the only shock I've been able to
find. Sachs makes a lowering kits, but it's $850, and lowering
a car in NH is not a good idea.

First, does anyone know how good these are, compared to,
say, a Bilstein HD or a Boge Turbo Gas? I'm loathe to spend
$350 plus $220 for installation to find out that the Audi
ones would have been better.

Second, does anyone have a recommendation on stiffness setting?
Since they are not externally adjustable, we're talking another
$220 to change my mind. I'm interested in the best handling
I can get with only sacrificing about half the ride quality.
For comparison, I thought the Boges were about right, the
Bilsteins a little too stiff.

Last, does anyone know of another option? I can't believe that
Bilstein, Boge, Tokico, KYB, and the other makers ignore the 100Q!
