Many years ago, when I was forced to maintain my older BMWs on a shoestring
budget, I read in the BMW CCA Roundel about a product called "Nalprep" that
was designed specifically for removing the built-up scale and sediment from
radiators and/or cooling systems. Unlike the 10-minute quickies, you added
this stuff to the coolant and drove the car for a month, THEN flushed it...
As I recall, it wasn't easy to find (try commercial truck repair shops), it
wasn't cheap (as compared to a 10-minute quickie) and it worked quite well.
Of course, now that I can afford to buy replacement radiators at $175 every
few years -- and have to because they start leaking LONG before they become
plugged-up with scale and sediment! -- I no longer bother with it.
BTW, why would you ever bother to clean a radiator if you had to replace it
AFTER you cleaned it ("cleaned and replaced after cleaning")? Hmmm...
