Dead cruise control=vacuum leak (5ktq)

The cruise control on my '88 5000tq died some time back, and the cause
was a vacuum leak. The hose going to the "plunger" (don't know the technical
term, but it's the thing that pulls on the throttle cable when you turn the
cruise control on) had either worn or burned a hole (not sure which) near
where the hose bends around an electrical wire connection and then attaches
to the upper edge of the fire wall. A few inches of electrical tape fixed
it nicely.

I found the leak by pressing the above mentioned plunger and hearing a
distinct hissing noise. Now I'm wondering if that vacuum leak was causing
any other anomalies...time will tell.

Just offering the above for global enlightenment, though I am curious if
others have experienced the same leak in the same spot. Have a SUNY day!

Matt

BTW: I didn't really escape the obligatory $$$ offering, as I'm having the
A/C compressor replaced later this week :(.
