RE: Brake Light Question
Hi Al,
In reference to your brake warning light problems; before I had the
used car dealer I got my car from replace the slowly leaking at the front seal
CHP that came with the car, the one that had nice light steering and good
brakes, I tried to signal a passing friend by tapping my brake pedal for the
flashing light in the rearview mirror effect. I probably got four or five taps
before the warning light came on and the beeper beeped. I had the dealler
replace the pump with a rebuilt and ended up with heavy steering and a warning
light that beeped and flashed every time I used the brakes. I had to go
overseas on business for a few months and the used car warranty had expired by
the time I returned. Because I'm often out of the country for extended periods
I let the problem slide until this summer. Then I replaced the CHP with the
proper one for my year car(034-), the dealer had used the older model(035-)for
his replacement, and installed a new PA. I can hit the pedal 30+ times before
it goes dead on me and the steering is nice and light again, but the D**N brake
warning light still stays on all the time. The ABS has been snow tested and
work great the stops are straight and true with or without ABS in the dry. I
talked with BLAUfergnugen about it they thought the sensor might have gone
south(the one on the servo) that that I should just unplug one of the leads to
it. This solved the light/beeper annoyance, but it is the ostrich technique; I
have buried my head in the sand on this subject!!! Grant, it is the "lazy mans"
way out, but I just got sick of chasin' my tail; I have good brakes, good
steering, 30+ pumps on the pedal with the engine off; I just wasn't gonna play
with it anymore. I do not recommend my solution to anyone, but we all must make
up our own minds as to when we have spent enough time chasin' the "ghosts in
the machine". If your pressure gauge says all is right then assume you have
another bad sensor in the servo...if all else is OK.
Just my 2/100 of a buck, and from this you get a wooden nickel in change...
