You DID check the archives before posting this right?
Check the mechanics list for a competent Audi specialist to help
with your project.

Busted cable? No vacuum? Need more than this...

You can get an aftermarket replacement from cat back from
Blaufergnugen for $299 or so, or try PAP.

check the relays, but it's probably the element. Also see the archives
for more info.

Could be control arm bushings but it sounds worse. Could be a function
of shot struts.

Boge Turbo Gas or hydraulics. Check the archives.
How about tires and rims? Get a package from Tire Rack.

If the center diff lock is not coming on, it could be
shot, or perhaps the center to rear driveshaft is going/shot.
Try cleaning and lubing the lock itself, check vacuum lines, etc.

Hope it was cheap. Starting to make my 84 4000 sound good in its
pitiful former state (it's almost perfect now, just waiting for a
5000TQ engine transplant. Any willing donors? :)

You'll need to :). You want to liberate some greenbacks? Sure,
drive to NY for the weekend and I'll play with it...
Seriously, there are lots of recommended shops in the Boston area,
check the archives (am I repeating myself?)
