200TQ Factory assembly faults

Hey Y'all,

While messin' and tryin' t' fix my fluctuating idle problem I found that the
"Check Engine" light bulb was not located behind the "Check Engine" hole in
the Instrument Cluster (IC). Since I've had the IC in and out so many times
that I'm purdy shore I could do it in my sleep I figured that I must have
screwed it up one of the early times I had the IC out and never noticed.

I pulled the IC once again and checked. The little light bulb was there
attached and functional on a wiring harness that lacked about 6 to 8 inches
of being long enough to reach the place where the bulb is s'posed to be.
(Over toward the high right side of the IC. Not in the center where you
might expect it to be located with the other idjit lites.) It quite
obviously came that way from the factory!

I had not realized that the light is s'posed to come on every time the
ignition is turned on and to go out after the engine is started. I had
never seen the check engine light on at all. (For good reason as it turned
out.)

Does your check engine light come on when the ignition is turned on? If
not, may I suggest the possibility that the light bulb might not be where
it's supposed to be. You might want to check.
