I clean my filters twice a year, even then they are not that
dirty.  I would replace a paper filter every 10-15k probably.

Not really.  I've had one on my GLI since 91, cost $30.  A paper
filter runs what, $10 each?  5x10=$50 at least.

Actually I've heard that they flow better when they are dirty
(note - not clogged).
