Okay here's the scoop as best I remember it:
Hurley Haywood ran car 44 the lead team car in all the races.
Walter Rohl ran car 14 at Dallas, Sears Point, Niagra Falls, Lime Rock,
Mosport Park and St. Petersburg
Hans Joachim-Stuck ran car 14 at Long Beach, Detroit, Clevland, Brainerd,
The Meadowlands, Mid Ohio and Road America.
At St. Petersburg Hans Stuck ran car 4 which was Audi's only 3 car entry.
Audi never ran 4 cars at the same event, 6 T/A cars were built (44, 44t,
14, 14t, 4 and 4t) Audi won the manufactures Championship with 92 points
to 2nd place chebbys 63 points and Olds 51 points for third. Hurley won
the drivers championship with 152 points, Hans got 100 Points which was
6th in drivers title and Walter took 7th with 80 points.
Audi started the season 2458lbs (Increadible for a "Ship in a bottle"
Car) but the SCCA increased their weight to 2470lbs by the end of the
season. The engine was a all Aluminum 2 valve version of the MC engine
that ran 3.0 bar (Absolute) or 29psi! Audi said that it "Only" made
510hp at 7500 rpm..... I ran behind that car and we had 580hp and we
weighed 200lbs less and they ran away from me on the straights!! They put
the power down through a 6 speed gearbox that ran to a Limited slip V/C
in the front diff a Torsen or a L/S V/C in the center and at the rear a
L/S Friction Plate diff, Torsen or L/S V/C, according to the track.
How's that for info!
Later!
