you are in the right area.... If you inspected the cv joint boots and they
are not ripped or otherwise compromised, the good chance is that you have a
bad wheel bearing.... Does the note change when you turn right or left?
Most wheel bearings gone bad make more or less noise as they are loaded and
unloaded (as in turning).... Rarely do the CV's go bad without MUCHO miles
on them, or without a bad boot, if you have neither, the wheel bearing is
suspect......
