Causing Yer Kindly ol' Unka Bart to wonder aloud, Are you sure that it was 
weight, Eliot?  The 928 is all aluminum.  On the other hand, it *is* wide,
perhaps the *widest* v8 around.  My guess would be that it was rejected due
to the excessive *width*, not the weight.  But I'm *just* guessing here...
