throttle switch update [3]

Hey there Audi-Friends,
    First off.. I'd like to thank all of you for helping me with the latest
problem with the Q. So.. Thanks to Orin, Ernest, Dave, Bruce, Igor, Frank, G
Steinbrueck, and Luis. Knowlegable Fellas (or gals) all of you!
    I tested the harness with jumper cables, as adviced. Although I'm still not
sure exactly what a WOT is. The lower connecter coupled with ground brought the
car back to idle quite nicely. Which means that the switch is indeed the
culprit. 
    So.. phone call to Linda, wallet lightened, and the part should be here on
Friday morning. Hopefully. I'll have it and the thermo-sending unit installed
in a jiffy.. and all is well. :)
I tried to take apart the old switch, but I can't seem to get it apart without
completely destroying the plastic housing. :( OH well..

p.s. should I remove the upper radiator hose before pulling the thermo-gauge
